MarchFourth will appear at the Music Box with their guests Banshee Tree. MarchFourth Marching Band, now called MarchFourth or even M4, was founded in Portland in 2003. They are less a band than an event, since they are part circus troupe, part marching band, part punk rock outfit, costumed as a marching band that combines these qualities.
The group comprises a seven-piece horn section, a four-piece percussion section, guitar, electric bass, acrobatics, dancers, a live visual artist, and stilt-walkers. They play mostly original compositions, although they do occasionally play covers and have, on occasion, marched through town before going onstage. Their performances include Tropicalia, rock, funk, jazz, and other genres, and has a strong New Orleans influence. The lineup changes constantly but at any time there are about 20 people in the group.
A review says:
“The musical quality, the energy of the band, and the spectacle of the dancers all combine to create an original performance that appeals to everyone.”
Banshee Tree is a psychedelic indie pop/rock outfit that started as a swing band. They evolved not in the studio but in performance, including a weekly residency in Boulder, Colorado. They also added new members, veterans of the punk-rock and punk scenes in Denver, that helped them grow.
The concert is scheduled for April 7. When they plan shows like this, organizers often rely on poster printing to create advertising to support them.
