A San Diego eatery is making the dining experience even more special, by creating a “chef's counter” that will allow diners to get up close and personal with the magicians in the kitchen.
The Fort Oak restaurant, located in the Mission Hills neighborhood, offers a rustic feel as it specializes in both complete meals and small plates, the latter adjusted to the season. The restaurant is famous for its oyster bar, but is now adding something special—a “chef's counter.”
The new concept is only available twice a week, and will allow diners to watch from across the counter as Brad Wise, the executive chef, and his assistants, work their magic. They will be preparing locally sourced vegetables, and grilling freshly-caught seafood, as well as various cuts of meat, on a 7,000lb custom-made grill.
During these special evenings, Chef Wise and his chefs will be creating a six-dish tasting menu, which they will prepare depending on whatever fresh at the time. Graphic design can be used to create special handouts for events like this.
The Chef's Counter Experience is limited in scope. It will only be available Wednesdays and Thursdays, every other week, beginning July 17. The six-course tasting is priced at $100 per person. For those who would like to have a wine pairing to go with their meal, the price is $40 additional.
There are only 14 seats available at these evenings, and interested parties should register online.
