Celtic Thunder is the brainchild of Sharon Browne, a veteran of 30 years in the music business, who created the Irish-owned, independent label Celtic Collections. The label represents some of Ireland's favorite artists, as well as Celtic Woman's female vocalists. In 2007, Browne got the idea for Celtic Thunder, with an all-male cast. The group is known for the visual effects and choreography used in their shows.
Celtic Thunder was named Top World Album Artist by Billboard magazine in 2008, 2009, and 2011. In addition, the first three albums released by the group all placed in the top 10 list of World Albums. In 2009, the group had the honor of opening New York City's Saint Patrick's Day Parade. They were also invited to the White House to play for President and Mrs. Obama.
The group performs a mix of contemporary pop songs, Irish classics, and traditional ballads, and their shows are suitable for audiences of all ages.
