Versatile musician brings concert set to San Diego

An artist who might legitimately be described as a Renaissance woman is coming to San Diego.

Rachel Platten is a songwriter, vocalist, author, model, and volunteer with several charities. She began playing classical piano when she was five and turned to guitar in high school. She was aware of music from an early age, singing with her family to pop music from The Beatles to Sam Cooke. As a teen, she was drawn toward female artists and hip-hop.

In 2003 she released her album “Trust in Me,” and followed it with 2011’s “Be Here,” both independent releases. However, Columbia Records noticed her and signed her in 2015, and she released her debut single, “Fight Song,” on that label. The song was a hit, climbing to No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the U.S., and landing in the top ten in numerous countries.

In 2016, she released her debut major label album “Wildfire,” which the RIAA certified Gold. “Waves,” her second album with Columbia Records, dropped in 2017.

Since the early 2000s, Platten has worked with Musicians on Call, singing to hospitalized patients. She also supports numerous charities. A concert review says:
“Rachel Platten proved she is so much more than her radio hits when she took the stage . . .”

Platten will be at the Music Box in San Diego on March 23. Colorful Posters are traditionally used to advertise shows like this, which organizers can order at Print shops.
