A comedian and actor with an extensive television career behind him will visit San Diego soon.
David Spade began his career doing stand-up comedy, before joining “Saturday Night Live” as a writer and member of the cast, remaining with the show from 1990 to 1996. He began appearing as a regular on several television series that brought him fame and a number of awards and appeared in numerous films as well.
He was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for his portrayal of Dennis Finch in “Just Shoot Me!,” which ran on NBC from 1997 to 2003. He appeared in “8 Simple Rules” in 2004 and 2005, and then on “Rules of Engagement” from 2007-2013. From 2019 to 2020, he hosted “Lights Out with David Space,” a talk show on Comedy Central.
His film credits are extensive including leading roles in “Joe Dirt,” “8 heads in a Duffel Bag,” “The Do-Over,” and “The Wrong Missy.” Several of his films were produced by another cast member from “Saturday Night Live,” Adam Sandler. Two of these movies were major hits, “Grown Ups” and “Grown Ups 2.” Spade and Sandler had major roles in both films. He has continued his string of successes to the present, including guest-hosting “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
