CCR tribute band visits San Diego

A band comprising members who have worked with some of the original band members in their tribute group is coming to San Diego.

The “original” band here is Creedence Clearwater Revival, which is honored by Creedence Clearwater Revisited. This tribute band was founded by Doug Clifford and Stu Cook, original CCR members, as a touring project. The group coming to San Diego is Revisiting Creedence, whose frontmen, Kurt Griffey on lead guitar and Dan McGuiness on lead vocals, have appeared extensively with Creedence Clearwater Revisited.

The key to the success of Revisiting Creedence is their experience and musicianship. McGuinness’s powerful voice and Griffey’s skillful playing. Together, they play smash hits like “Proud Mary,” “Down on the Corner,” “Bad Moon Rising,” “Born on the Bayou,” and others that will be instantly familiar to audiences. Griffey drives extended jams on other material such as the Marvin Gaye hit “I Heard It Through the Grapevine.”

In addition to Griffey and McGuinness, Revisiting Creedence comprises drummer Ron Wikso, whom Doug Clifford chose to sit in for him with Creedence Clearwater Revisited when Clifford had to miss performances. Wikso, a world-class drummer, has toured with artists like David Lee Roth, Foreigner, and Cher. Rounding out the group is Mat Scarpelli, a multi-instrumentalist from Chicago who puts a foundation under the outfit with his smooth bass lines.

Revisiting Creedence will be at Humphreys Concerts by the Bay on July 10. Using poster printing, organizers of events like this can create advertising to support them.
