Empire of the Sun formed almost twenty years ago in 2007, founded by Nick Littlemore and Luke Steele. Littlemore was a member of Pnau, an electronic dance band, and Steele came from The Sleepy Jackson, an alt-rock outfit.
Their first album, “Walking on a Dream,” dropped in 2008 and was an immediate success, charting in ten countries. It climbed to number 4 in Australia, where the ARIA rated it 3x Platinum; in the US, it was number 97, and the RIAA rated it Gold. Several of the singles from the album charted internationally.
Their second album, 2013’s “Ice on the Dune,” rose to number 3 in Australia and number 20 in the US, where the RIAA named it Gold. They have released two more albums, as well as winning several Australian music awards. “Walking on a Dream” was nominated in 11 categories at 2009’s ARIA Music Awards, and won seven of them, one of which was Album of the Year. They have become known for their live shows, which feature elaborate sets and flamboyant costumes, especially headdresses. A review says:
“When Empire of the Sun took the stage, the atmosphere turned electric and every empty space was filled with booming sound.”
Empire of the Sun will bring their Ask That God: Afterlife North American Tour to Petco Park on October 7. To create advertisements that support events like these, organizers can work with poster printing.
