Ridesharing organization Uber recently announced that it has picked San Diego to be one of the sites for the rollout of its new Uber Rewards program.
The company will give users points each time they use either Uber or Uber Eats. There are four levels of membership in the new program; in ascending order, the levels are Blue, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond.
Customers will start earning points as soon as they sign up. For each eligible dollar they spend on Uber Eats or UberPool, members will earn one point. If they use WAV, Select, UberXL, or UberX, they will earn two points. Using Black SUV or Black will bag themthree points.
Members who earn a 500-point total inside six months will move from the Blue level to Gold. Once they earn a total of 2,500 points, they will move to Platinum; beform finally reaching Diamond level at 7,500 points.
Uber also announced that for every 500 points customers earn, they will have $5 added to the balance in their Uber Cash accounts. They can use the money to pay for rides, or for Uber Eats. In addition, becoming a higher-level member means customers will have a flexible cancellation policy, price protection, priority when it comes to being picked up, and eligibility for further upgrades.
The program is being tested in other cities as well. Companies making changes like this can use flyer printing to explain the process.
