Deep Sea Diver and Tristen will appear at the Casbah. Deep Sea Diver’s members are currently Jessica Dobson, who is a vocalist as well as handling the keyboards; drummer Peter Mansen; and guitarist and synthesizer player Elliot Jackson.
The band’s career really got started in 2009, when Dobson released “New Caves.” In 2012, the group dropped their debut album “History Speaks,” on their label, High Beam. In 2016, Deep Sea Diver released “Secrets,” their second album.
Although 2020 found the band in lockdown due to COVID, they released “Stop Pretending” along with “Impossible Weight,” their third album, which Seattle’s KEXP listeners voted “Top Album of 2020.”
Tristen is a singer/songwriter working in the pop genre. A native of Lansing, Illinois, she moved to Nashville where she released her first effort, “Charlatans at the Garden Gate,” which won praise from Rolling Stone. Describing her as “an artist worth watching,” they called Tristen’s sound:
“…vintage rockabilly and girl group pop”
One fan wrote of Deep Sea Diver:
“Their sound is clean and the group’s immense talent is obvious from the opening bars of any of their songs.”
The two bands will be at the Casbah in San Diego on February 4. Organizers of events like this can promote them by using flyer printing to create effective advertising.
