Popular comedian/actor performing in San Diego
A stand-up comic known for his extensive work in television will bring laughs to San Diego soon.
Patton Oswalt is a native of Virginia whose father, a career military officer, named his son after General George S. Patton. Oswalt began his career as a stand-up comic in 1988, going on to write for MADtv and landing his own HBO special. His first movie role was in 1996’s “Down Periscope,” and his debut on the small screen was on “Seinfeld.”
He has appeared in dozens of television shows and films, including the role of Spence Olchin on “The King of Queens,” which he played for 122 episodes (1998-2007). In the character of the adult Adam F. Goldberg, he narrated “The Goldbergs” from 2013 until 2023. Other television appearances include episodes of “Veep,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” and “Parks and Recreation.”
His film credits include both on-camera and voiceover work. Credits on the big screen include “Zoolander,” “Blade: Trinity,” and “The Circle.” He has also voiced characters in animated films and video games. He has even received a Grammy for Best Comedy Album for “Patton Oswalt: Talking for Clapping,” released a Netflix stand-up special, and won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special.
