Last chance to see legendary band in San Diego

One of the best-selling pop groups in history is coming to San Diego in early September – for the final time.

Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons – The Last Encores is the iconic band’s farewell tour, which they are bringing to America’s Finest City.

The band was formed in Newark, New Jersey, in 1960, with Valli as one of the original founders. The other members of the first lineup were Tommy DeVito (guitar), Bob Gaudio (keyboards), and Nick Massi (drums). Valli was and is known for his distinctive falsetto voice, and his bandmates were also vocalists. The lineup has changed over the years, leaving Valli, who is now 91 years old, as the only original member.

The Four Seasons boast sales of over 100 million records throughout the world. They broke through in 1962 when they dropped the album “Sherry & 11 Others,” which contained “Sherry,” their first No. 1 hit. They followed “Sherry” with several other songs that were million-sellers, including “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” which was their second to reach No. 1, and then their third No. 1 song, “Walk Like a Man.”

Valli’s music has been used in films including “Dirty Dancing” and “The Deer Hunter.” “Jersey Boys,” a jukebox musical about the group, ran from 2005 to 2017 on Broadway, and won four Tonys, including Best Musical.

Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons will be at Humphreys Concerts by the Bay on Friday, September 5. Concerts like this are traditionally advertised with Posters, which organizers can find at Print shops.
