A new ice cream shop revealed plans to open at Ballpark Village, which is near Petco Park in San Diego's downtown, very soon.
Creamistry makes its ice cream treats to order, using liquid nitrogen. The idea for the shop, which is now a franchise, was born because of the owner loves ice cream. He considered the operation from a customer's perspective, and came up with idea of using chemistry as part of the dessert process.
Customers first choose a base for their ice cream from a list that includes non-dairy sorbet, vegan cashew, vegan coconut, organic, or premium, then pick a flavor of their choice. After that, they have more than 30 options to choose from as a topping, including such goodies as sauces, fruits, cereal, cookies, and candy. New businesses like this have an opportunity to build a brand by distributing Promotional Products.
Unusually, the ice cream is then flash-frozen using liquid nitrogen, which also results in clouds of smoke. Nitrogen in liquid form is at -321°F, and when it freezes the base, the process is so quick, ice crystals do not form. The result is a creamy, rich, luxurious ice cream.
Creamistry now has approximately 60 shops in six states, and is currently hiring for the new shop in Ballpark Village. It also plans to open another shop in San Diego's Loma Square.
