New craft brewery opens in San Diego

San Diego is enjoying a huge surge in the craft beer industry, much to the delight of those who savor these innovative brews, and the latest effort is Bay City Brewing Company, run by head brewer Chris West.

The new establishment is on Hancock Street, behind the Valley View Casino Center in Mission Valley. The Center used to be known as the Sports Arena, and the location is a bit off the beaten path for pedestrian traffic, but worth the trip.

Chris West started as a homebrewer, then became a co-brewer at Monkey Paw Pub & Brewery, and now is running his own shop. The brewery's tasting room is open seven days a week, from noon until 10 pm, although there are fewer than ten beers on the menu at the moment. Among them are an IPA, a stout, and several types of pale ale – a San Diego favorite.

San Diego's brewing scene is exceptionally competitive, but Bay City has taken a minimalist approach to both its beers and its branding that is likely to bring success. Chris West and the other brewers at Bay City pay attention to details in what they brew.

West could work with a flyer printing company to create a handout for distribution, including a coupon that invites people to visit the brewery.
