Nasty rapper to make San Diego visit

An East Coast rapper is going to shake up the West with a visit to San Diego soon.

Rico Nasty is the stage name of Maria-Cecilia Simone Kelly, a singer/songwriter and rapper from Maryland. She began to climb to prominence when she released singles like “Poppin” in 2018.

Rico released “Summer’s Eve” in 2014 when she was still a high school student. After she graduated, she turned to music full time, and released “The Rico Story” and “Sugar Trap” in 2016. She followed that with her single “Poppin,” which got more than five million YouTube views. “Poppin” was featured on HBO in the series “Insecure.” Her mixtape “Sugar Trap 2,” which she released in 2017, won praise from Rolling Stone magazine in 2017, which called it one of the Best Rap Albums of that year.

In 2018, she continued winning fans with a series of singles that were viewed millions of times by YouTube and TikTok viewers. Her rising popularity won her a contract with Atlantic Records. Rico has constructed an amazing body of work, with over 45 music videos and more than 70 singles.
