Kolohe Kai was launched in 2009 by Roman De Peralta, a songwriter and the group's lead vocalist. Others in the group are Kahale Morales on bass; guitarist Imua Garza; drummer Luke Daddario; Kolomona Wilson-Ku on saxophone and keyboard; and Jasmine Moikeha, vocalist. Most of the band's members were still high school students when they began their career.
The reggae-pop group dropped their debut album, “This Is the Life,” in 2009, the same year they first got together. They followed that up with “Love Town” in 2011, which included the hits “Cool Down” and “Ehu Girl,” and began to help build their reputation in the Pacific pop and reggae genres. Their positivity and amorous subjects were highlighted again on “Paradise,” which they released in 2014, and which gained them even more fans. “Paradise” rose to number three on Billboard's Reggae Album chart. The band took a break until 2019, when they came roaring back with “Summer to Winter,” which made it all the way to number one on the Reggae chart.
