Kevin Faulconer, the mayor of San Diego, recently announced that one of the city’s most popular parks will be getting a makeover.
Mission Bay Park draws approximately fifteen million visitors annually and is the biggest aquatic park in the nation. Among the planned renovations are improvements to the walking and biking trails and restrooms, replacing the playground equipment at ten areas throughout the park, and repaving the parking lots. The upgrades will cost at least $40 million, and possibly more.
The bay will be dredged to make the water safe. In addition, approximately $7 million will be set aside to create a master environmental report the city will use as its guide, to determine the impacts on the environment that might be caused by the projects that have been planned for the park. Poster printing can be used to label specific trails and other areas in projects like this.
A great deal of work that will be done in the immediate future is thanks to the fact that in 2016, residents approved Measure J. Without the funding provided by the measure, it would not be possible to renovate the parking lots, restrooms, or playgrounds.
Regular users of the park are delighted to hear about the upcoming improvements. Ian Angel, a resident of San Diego, said he felt there was something sacred about the park, an atmosphere that allows people to relax and ignore the pressures of their day.
