Legendary bands coming to San Diego

Two of the biggest bands in hard and alternative rock are coming to San Diego.

Guns N’ Roses and Alice in Chains are on the road together, and will shake up SnapDragon Stadium on the SDSU campus at the beginning of October.

Guns N’ Roses formed in Los Angeles in 1985, when Izzy Stradlin of Hollywood Rose mentioned Axl Rose to Tracii Guns of L.A. Guns, who was looking for a new vocalist, and that was the beginning. Their 1987 debut album, “Appetite for Destruction,” included the classic rock tracks “Sweet Child O’ Mine” and “Paradise City.”

The band is known for its grueling touring schedule, including sixteen months on the road in 1987 in support of “Appetite for Destruction”, opening for artists like Aerosmith and Iron Maiden. A review notes:
“ . . . Guns N’ Roses is your last chance to see an unabashedly bombastic and grandiose hard rock concert . . .”

Alice in Chains formed in Seattle in 1987 as a rock band influenced by grunge and alternative metal. They caught the ear of Columbia Records and dropped “Facelift,” their first studio album, in 1990. Their 1992 album “Dirt” went 5x Platinum, and the third, “Alice in Chains,” hit No. 1. A review says:
“Alice in Chains . . . rocked the place with their sludgy, doom metal, minor chord, disharmonies to the delight of their fans.”

The two bands will be performing in San Diego on Sunday, October 1. Organizers of events like this can promote them using poster printing to create stunning advertising.
