Hard rockers to shake up San Diego

Two bands coming to San Diego promise to shake things up in the best way.

The Fixx will appear at the Music Box, along with Slim Jim Phantom. The Fixx first got together in London in 1979, with Adam Woods and Cy Cumin founding the group. Russell McKenzie, Tony McGrail, and Rupert Greenall joined later, completing the original line-up.

McGrail left the group in 1980 and Jamie West-Oram came aboard, and the group began calling itself The Fix. The new line-up received airplay on BBC radio, which led to an offer from MCA Records. At the request of the label, they added the extra ‘x’ to their name, signed with MCA, and began their climb.

The band enjoys a deep connection with audiences because their themes are frequently thought-provoking, introspective, and complex. The Fixx has charted numerous times and sold millions of albums throughout the world.

A review says:

“The Fixx is a band with gravity. . . . the fellows pull you in through a combination of skilled performance and intellectual weight. . . . The Fixx is a band that knows how to put on a show, but they also have something to say. . .”

Also on the bill is Slim Jim Phantom, the drummer for Stray Cats. He also plays in the Kat Men band with Darrel Higham and Imelda May.

The show is set for Friday, June 17. Organizers of events like this can use flyer printing to create advertising handouts.
