What's Happening in San Diego - Mission Valley, CA…

Educational event steams into local park

San Diego families can soon head over to Balboa Park for a day of educational fun.

STEAM Family Day focuses on science, technology, engineering, art, and math. The event is part of the San Diego Festival of Science and Engineering. Various cultural groups will offer hands-on projects and presentations.

At Zoro Garden, there will be a butterfly celebration with face painting, story times, and crafts. At the Marie Hitchcock Puppet Theatre, individuals can make puppets. The Reuben H. Fleet Science Center invites guests to make a wooden derby car to race and paper airplanes to fly.

Participants can take part in making beads, origami, cornstarch sculptures, and also watch various dance performances. Of course, they can also visit the museums and look at the exhibits.

Attendees can try their luck at the 'Wheel of Fortune' prize wheel for coupons and goodies. There will also be a drawing for tickets to various performances in the area.

It is likely the event organizers used a flyer printing service to make handouts to promote the event. Brightly colored informational flyers could be passed out in high-traffic areas in San Diego.

These activities are free with the purchase of a ticket to one of the museums at Balboa Park. The fun takes place on March 15 from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm. Balboa Park is located at 1549 El Prado.
