Classical concert just weeks away in San Diego

One of the most renowned classical music groups in the world is coming to San Diego.

The Chamber Ensemble of the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields will perform in America’s Finest City soon. The Academy known for its interpretations of some of the finest classical music ever written.

The Academy was founded in 1958 by Sir Neville Marriner, who brought together a group of London’s leading musicians to form the orchestra. The group gave its initial performance in 1959, in St. Martin in the Fields Church, from which it took its name. The Academy has made hundreds of recordings, and its current music director is famed violinist Joshua Bell.

In 1967, the Chamber Ensemble was formed by bringing together the orchestra’s principal players, musicians who were used to working together. The ensemble varies in size, from a quartet to an octet, occasionally adding wind instruments, depending on the works to be played. The Ensemble regularly tours North America and Europe, and has released more than 30 CDs on the Chandos, Hyperion, and Philips Classics labels.

One reviewer wrote:

“It was an enchanting evening listening to the best of the best in classical performance. I could have stayed there forever listening to them play.”

The concert is set for March 14 at the San Diego Civic Center Theatre downtown. In order to create programs for events like this, organizers often turn to brochure printing.
