The City of Carlsbad, a San Diego suburb, lit up its new holiday lights earlier this month.
On December 10, city officials held a lighting ceremony at 5:00 pm, at the intersection of Grand Avenue and State Street, in Carlsbad Village, the city's trendy shopping district. The lights have been strung in trees along streets in the Village.
The new lighting project was led by the Carlsbad Village Association and the city itself, as part of the effort to reinvigorate the Village to make it more attractive to both visitors and residents. The new lights are aimed upwards, so that they shine into the boughs and leaves of the trees on Grand Avenue, between Roosevelt Avenue and State Street.
City officials say the lights can not only change color, but are also energy-efficient LED bulbs. During the holidays, the lights are programmed to perform a show every evening, at the beginning of the hour. The shows start at 5:00 pm and finish at 11:00 pm, after which the lights are turned off for the rest of the night.
The city first put lights in Carlsbad Village in 2012, in the trees along State Street. Every year, the city has added lights to the program.
In order to make the Village even more festive, city officials could create seasonal Banners to decorate the flagpoles in the area.Get a Free Quote for Banners
