Broadway star coming to San Diego

An Australian-born vocalist who has appeared in “Hadestown” on Broadway is coming to San Diego.

Betty Who (birth name Jessica Newham), released “Somebody Loves You,” her debut single, in 2012, and followed it a year later with “The Movement,” her debut EP. RCA Records signed her, and she dropped her first studio album, 2014’s “Take Me When You Go,” on that label. One of her earliest successes came from “The Valley,” her second studio album, which included her cover of “I Love You Always Forever,” which made it to the Australian Top Ten, and hit the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Dance Club Songs in the U.S.

Who began playing the cello when she was four, and in 2007, moved to the U.S. to study at the Interlochen Center for the Arts. She turned from classical music to pop and went on to play Persephone in “Hadestown” from September 2023 until February 2024.

Also appearing is Rosalind Crane (“Rozzi”), a San Francisco native. A soul singer, she was discovered by Adam Levine, Maroon 5’s lead vocalist. She toured with them before going out on her own, releasing her first album “Bad Together,” in 2018 and her second, ”Berry (Deluxe),” in 2023. She has worked with artists such as Sheryl Crow and Billie Eilish.

The artists will appear at the Music Box in San Diego on July 2. Performances like this can be enhanced when organizers use Posters, which they can find at Print shops, to support them.
