Blues rock duo comes to San Diego

A Grammy-winning band will be appearing soon in San Diego.

The Black Keys formed in 2001 in Ohio, founded by childhood friends Patrick Carney and Dan Auerbach. They self-produced their work until 2010, when they broke through with “Brothers,” their sixth album. The band released the single “Tighten Up” before they dropped the album, and the song was number one for ten weeks on the Alternative Songs chart. It also reached the Billboard Hot 100 chart, where it hit number 87.

“Brothers” made it to number three on the Billboard 200, and sold a total of 1.5 million Copies worldwide, winning double platinum certification in Canada, gold in the UK, and platinum in the United States.

The Black Keys have enjoyed an extraordinary recording career, releasing their latest effort, “Ohio Players” in 2014. The success of “Brothers” carried over into their next release “El Camino,” which went to No. 2, and then “Turn Blue,” which was a No. 1 hit.

They have earned numerous awards and nominations, including four Grammys for the “El Camino” album. A concert review says:

“The Black Keys delivered a stellar performance that reaffirmed their status as rock royalty.”

The band will appear June 4 at the Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre on the San Diego State University campus. When they want to advertise events like this, organizers can turn to poster printing.
