Audio engineer/musician coming to San Diego
A man who has worked on some of the biggest albums ever made, and had his own successful group, is coming to San Diego.
Alan Parsons was born in London, but now lives in California. As a sound engineer, Parsons worked on “Abbey Road” and “Let It Be” by the Beatles, as well as “The Dark Side of the Moon” by Pink Floyd. He also handled “Ambrosia,” the debut album by the band of the same name.
He was the leader of his own group, The Alan Parsons Project, which was highly successful. The group’s core members were Parsons and pianist/songwriter/singer Eric Woolfson, with session musicians sitting in. Parsons and Woolfson co-wrote almost all the songs the group performed, and Parsons produced or co-produced most of the group’s recordings.
Parsons and Woolfson were together for 15 years, during which time they dropped eleven studio albums, many with supernatural, sociological, literary, or science fiction themes. Over his career, Parsons has garnered 13 Grammy nominations, and the Parsons Project’s album “Eye in the Sky,” originally released in 1982, won the Grammy in 2019. After the Project ended its run, Parsons embarked on a successful solo career. A review says:
Parsons will be at Humphrey’s by the Bay on May 9. When shows like this are scheduled, organizers often work with poster printing to create advertising for them.
