SeaWorld San Diego recently announced it will soon be expanding its Waves of Honor program to include veterans and their guests.
At present, SeaWorld allows military personnel on active duty to enter the parks for free as part of its Waves of Honor effort, which started in 2003. Since then, according to SeaWorld officials, approximately three million service personnel and their families have visited one of SeaWorld’s parks.
Last year, the park offered military veterans a similar promotion, and also offered complimentary tickets to first responders and teachers at its various parks, including Aquatica and Busch Gardens. Representatives of the theme parks say these offers have been extremely popular.
The offer is personal for Marilyn Hannes, president of SeaWorld San Diego, who son has served in both Afghanistan and Iraq. She says she is proud not only of him, but of all those who have served, and is glad to be able to offer free admission to veterans and their guests. Facilities like this can use banner printing to create decorations to honor program participants.
In order to take advantage of the offer, veterans need to register at Wavesofhonor.com, and provide proof of service. After they have registered, veterans will receive online ticketing, which they will scan at the park to receive entrance. Tickets can only be obtained online.
Military veterans need to reserve their tickets by next Sunday, June 9, and use them by July 15.
