Anyone who appreciates classic comedy will want to catch an upcoming show at the Balboa Theatre in downtown San Diego.
John Cleese has numerous credits to his name, but he is probably best remembered for the trend-setting wackiness that characterized “Monty Python’s Flying Circus.” The sketch show pushed comedy to a new level, made rudeness an art form, and won millions of fans around the world with inspired lunacy like the “Dead Parrot Sketch.”
Cleese studied law at Cambridge University, and while there joined the Cambridge Footlights, the university’s sketch comedy club. In 1963, he was a cast member of the annual revue, which was so successful it transferred to London’s West End. It was also at this time that he met Graham Chapman, who would become his writing partner.
His breakthrough came in 1965, when he was writing and performing on a show called “The Frost Report.” There, he created a character that became a trademark - the tall, patrician, upper-class Englishman.
His career includes appearances in several “Python” films, as well as “Time Bandits,” “A Fish Called Wanda,” and, in a dramatic turn, “Silverado.” He created and starred in the successful TV series “Fawlty Towers,” and has authored several academic papers, as well as a memoir and other Books.
John Cleese will be at the Balboa Theatre on Wednesday, September 10. Shows like this are traditionally advertised with Posters, which organizers can order at Print shops.Get a Free Quote for Print Get a Free Quote for Posters Get a Free Quote for Books
