San Diego plans to hit the ground running

Runners of all skill levels, and people who just want to get outdoors for a fun event, will have the opportunity to do so soon.

For the 13th year, the Annual San Diego Resolution Run 5K/10K/Half Marathon, held at Tecolote Shores, is on the calendar. The race courses are laid out on Fiesta Island and along Mission Bay, which will give the runners beautiful views during the event. All the courses are paved, flat, and fast, and wide enough so that there are spots where runners will pass, going in opposite directions. Participants are asked to keep to the right.

Support stations will be available every 1.5 to 2 miles, offering water, as well as energy fuels and electrolyte replenishers. Porta-potties will be placed along the course as well. As a special treat, a Runner Recovery Zone will be available both before and after the race. Here, runners will find stretch therapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, and companies that have recovery equipment.

The race is set for January 11, with registration starting at 6:00 am. The 10K and half-marathon start at 7:15 am, and the 5K begins at 7:30 am. From 8:00 am until 11:30 am there will be awards, performances, giveaways, music, and a kids' 100 meter dash. Organizers recommend that runners pick up their bibs the day before the race, at Road Runner Sports on Copley Drive.

Banner printing is often used to mark the course of events like this.
