San Diego gets the Led out

Great bands often inspire others to pay tribute to them by playing their music, and such a tribute band is on its way to San Diego.

Led Zeppelin 2 (LZ2) will play a concert called “III: A 50th Anniversary Celebration” at San Diego's House of Blues on 5th Avenue. Led Zeppelin 2 is comprised of Bruce Lamont, a Chicagoan who appeared with Yakuza, an avant-metal group, as their frontman as they toured the world; drummer Greg Fundis, also from Chicago, who has performed with stars like comedian Rich Little and jazz drummer Louis Bellson.

The other two bandsmen are bass player Matthew Longbons, who has played with The Allman Brothers and Alice Cooper, and who plays mandolins and keyboards in addition to the bass for LZ2; and Paul Kamp, a long-time fixture in Chicago's music scene. Illinois Entertainer nominated Kamp for the title “best guitarist.”

A review of a recent LZ2 performance noted that the band plays:

“with disarming historical accuracy, punishing rhythmic power, and (natch) a whole lotta love.”

Led Zeppelin 2 will play February 14, at 7.00 pm. Attendees of all ages are welcome, but those under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a guardian or parent, or by a responsible adults at least 25 years old. That person must have written permission from the minor's guardian or parent. Poster printing can be used to create attractive advertising for special events like this.
