San Diego fundraiser raises seven-figure sum

A recent fundraising effort was hugely successful in raising money to fight stroke and heart disease.

Over 10,000 people turned out to take part in the San Diego Heart & Stroke Walk, which raised more than $1m. The money will go toward community programs, and innovative, lifesaving research. It will also help educate both children and adults about health, and determine best practices for treating stroke and heart disease, based on science. Funding will also go to help advocate for policies that have a positive effect on cardiovascular health. Banner printing can be used to create course markers for events like this.

Dr. Michael Cunningham, who is the Chancellor of National University, was the chairman of the Heart & Stroke Walk, and his leadership encouraged nearly 400 teams to take part in the walk. Dr. Cunningham provided the perfect example for everyone else, as he was the event's top fundraiser.

The AHA also recognized Dan Gross of Sharp healthcare for his leadership in the Heart Walk. Gross has been with the event since it began 28 years ago, and, along with his teams, has raised over $3m.

The AHA also reminded people that the easiest, simplest change they can make to help the health of their hearts is to start walking. A 30-minute walk each day can reduce the risk of stroke and heart disease for everyone.
