People shopping at San Diego's farmers' markets will now be able to taste craft beers as they do their shopping.
A recently enacted state law allows vendors to sell craft beers at the popular markets. The first market to offer beer tastings to their shoppers was the Hillcrest Farmers' Market, which served the craft brews for the first time last Sunday, March 13. Kevin Faulconer, San Diego's Mayor, was at the market to serve the beer samples to visitors, along with Councilman Todd Gloria.
Gloria noted that people return to farmers' markets time after time because something new is always available, and having different beers for shoppers to taste will keep up with this tradition. Gloria also noted that until now, selling beer was not possible, and he is proud that the first beer samplings in San Diego are taking place in his district.
The farmers' market in Hillcrest is the largest such market in San Diego. Market managers plan to rotate the craft beers available at the market every Sunday.
Farmers' market organizers throughout San Diego and the county might consider working with a flyer printing company to devise a mailer for area residents, telling them about the beer samplings now available. They might also create Banners for each of the craft brewers to display when it is their turn at the market.Get a Free Quote for Banners
