San Diego Chargers describe proposed convedium

The San Diego Chargers are forwarding plans for what they call a “convedium” – a combination convention annex and stadium — which they hope to put before voters this November.

The team created a video describing the project, with former quarterback Dan Fouts handling the narration.

The video is entitled ‘Heart of San Diego’, and starts with Fouts describing San Diego's qualities, his 15-year career with the Chargers, and the memories he has of his time in the city. The video then uses computer animation to show the proposed structure, which would seat 61,500. Its proposed location is near Petco Park, in the East Village area of the city.

The project would be funded by increasing the tax the city levies on hotel rooms, and with contributions from both the National Football League and the Chargers. Fouts said there will not be any new taxes imposed on residents of San Diego. Instead, he said, business travelers, conventioneers, and tourists would help pay for the project when they stay at San Diego hotels.

The video ended with Dean Spanos, the Chargers' chairman, stating the facility will be a lot more than just a stadium. He envisions it as a world-class center for events that should attract new entertainment and sports events throughout the year.

Organizations like these can benefit by working with flyer printers, who can create materials for wide distribution, explaining complex issues in depth.
