Rocking the yacht in San Diego

San Diego's Music Box will be the place fans of yacht rock need to be this fall.

Yacht rock is another name for the style that encompasses adult-oriented rock, the “West Coast sound,” and soft rock. Popular during the 1970s and 1980s, the genre is characterized by catchy melodies, clean vocals, and high production values. Bands typical of the genre are Toto, with their hit “Rosanna,” and Christopher Cross's quintessential yacht rock song, “Sailing.”

A band specializing in this music is coming to the Music Box. The Yachtley Crew is based in Los Angeles, and the group's members have one goal: to have as much fun as possible while covering the songs of the 1970s and 1980s. Numbers on their setlist include “Kokomo” by the Beach Boys, and Gerry Rafferty's “Baker Street.”

“I can't even remember when I danced to every single song and laughed at the crazy antics of the band at the same time but I do when I see & hear this band. They are great musicians, fun, they keep the fans involved and are so enjoyable to spend time with. You won't forget them!”

The Yachtley Crew will be at the Music Box on November 6, with the show starting at 9.00 pm. The doors will open one hour earlier. The show was rescheduled from an earlier date, and tickets to the prior performance will be honored. Flyer printing is often used to publicize events like this.
