Rock legend to visit San Diego

A staple in the 1980s with his “boogie-blues” sound, a veteran rocker is coming to San Diego in the next few weeks.

George Thorogood composed two original songs that were mammoth hits, and heard constantly: “I Drink Alone,” and “Bad to the Bone.” Bluesy and melancholy, the songs resonated with audiences.

Thorogood began his career in the 1970s as a solo acoustic performer, and formed his band, the Delaware Destroyers, in 1973. Although he and his band were recording and touring throughout the 1970s, his first major exposure came in 1981, when he supported the Rolling Stones on their tour of the U.S.

At the time, he and the Destroyers toured extensively, including the grueling “50/50” tour when they visited all 50 states in the United States in a single 50-day period. Throughout their career, Thorogood and the Destroyers have dropped more than 20 albums, two of which reached Platinum status while another six went Gold. Worldwide, they have sold more than 15 million records.

A concert review says:

“When I heard he was coming for his 40th anniversary tour I had to go, but as with aging rock stars I was not expecting greatness, but that is what we all got from him and the destroyers . . . He rocked like a young Thorogood would . . .“

George Thorogood and the Destroyers will be at Humphreys Concerts by the Bay on Sunday, September 11. Colorful Posters are a great way to advertise events like this, and organizers can create them using poster printing.
