One of San Diego's signature events is now back on the schedule.
San Diego's Bon Temps Social Club is presenting Gator by the Bay. The four-day festival has a New Orleans/Louisiana theme, and features seven stages where over 100 performances will rock the crowd. In addition, there will be dancing to live music, and food including 10,000lb of crawfish, trucked in directly from Louisiana.
The club plans to erect large, shaded dance floors where people can enjoy Latin music, rockabilly, Cajon, blues, and zydeco music. Among the many bands scheduled to appear are Terry & the Zydeco Bad Boys, and Billy Lee and the Swamp Critters.
Once they have worked up an appetite, festival visitors can find authentic Southern dishes at the French Quarter Food Court. Among the choices are traditional Po'Boys, red beans and rice, all kinds of gumbo, hush puppies, pecan pie, and pralines.
The Louisiana Seafood Board is sponsoring cooking demonstrations and a gumbo cook-off. The chefs will describe the origin of the dishes and the cultures that created them, answer the age-old question of how Creole and Cajon dishes differ, and why recipes call for sassafras.
This is the 20th year for the festival, which will be held at Spanish Landing Park from May 6 to May 9, 2021. The hours are different each day and can be found on the event website. Banner printing can be used to provide signage for outdoor events like this.
