An upcoming workshop will be teaching Californians how to create well-fitted leggings.
The Leggings Fitting and Construction Workshop runs on two days and offers participants an opportunity to learn how to fit and construct leggings with accuracy and confidence.
The workshop focuses on the unique challenges of creating well-fitted leggings, which require specialized measurements to accommodate significant stretch and compression. Participants will receive detailed guidance on selecting appropriate elastics, patterns, and fabrics with the correct weight and stretch ratio to ensure successful results. Stationery printers can be used to make printouts of lists of requirements.
The first session, on Friday, January 24, will address pattern styling options, proper measuring techniques, and pattern adjustments tailored to individual body measurements. A special measurement chart will be provided to assist participants in achieving a precise fit. In addition to hands-on instruction, attendees will receive recommendations for Books and video resources to support their work beyond the workshop.
The second session, on Saturday, February 8, will focus on the construction process. Bobo will demonstrate the elastic application, seam finishing, and various construction techniques using basic sewing machines, coverstitch machines, and sergers. Participants will have the flexibility to use either a serger or coverstitch machine based on their preference, with both options capable of achieving high-quality results.
The Santa Rosa Chapter of the American Sewing Guild will host the two-day Leggings Fitting and Construction Workshop, led by instructor Lyra Bobo, in Rohnert Park. It will take place from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on both scheduled days.
