The Vitalant Blood Donation organization has scheduled a community blood drive to take place locally next month.
Vitalant Blood Donation regularly organizes local blood drives in many towns and cities across the country. To ensure that donors stay safe, everyone must wear masks, practice social distancing, and receive a temperature check.
The blood drive will feature two different types of optional blood donations, including double red cells and whole blood. Double red cells donations involve an estimated 350ml of red cells from donors through a drawing procedure called apheresis. Whole blood donations involve 500ml of a donor’s blood, which includes about half as many red cells as the double red cells option.
Every donor will receive a test for potential coronavirus antibodies that could help the recovery of patients who have the virus.
Appointment times vary between 9:30 am to 2:30 pm every quarter of an hour. Rohnert Park locals who wish to take part can register for whichever timeslot is most convenient for them. The organizers of similar community events often use flyer printing in order to distribute handouts containing event dates and other details to locals who may be interested in taking part.
The blood drive is scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety SOMO Event Center.
