Rohnert Park hosts prom for young at heart

Some dances are made for people in their golden years, as illustrated by the forthcoming Rohnert Park Senior Prom at the Cogir Senior Living.

The event is for people 55 and older and is open to both members of the senior center and non-members. The “senior” prom has the theme of “Bet on a night to remember,” evoking the glitz and glamour of a night out at the casino.

Organizers say the event is immensely popular and features food and dancing as part of the admission. The music comes from the band Memory Lane Combo. Though alcohol is not included in the price admission, there will be beverages available for purchase via the Sonoma Mountain Twilight Rotary Club. The event has three sponsors – the Rotary Club, Cogir Senior Living, and Senior Helpers.

Last year’s event, also held at the senior center, carried the theme of “Back to the 70s.” Prom events like these may choose to use banner printing for decorating the dance halls.

The Rohnert Park Senior Prom is happening next Saturday, April 5 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Cogir Senior Living facility, 4855 Snyder Lane. Tickets cost $5 for senior center members and $8 for non-members, and must be purchased in advanced from either the senior center or the Rohnert Park Community Center at 5401 Snyder Lane.
