A Memorial Day Celebration is set to take place this spring at the Rohnert Park Community Center.
The event is a collaboration between the City of Rohnert Park and the American Legion, the latter of which is an organization dedicated to servicing wartime veterans. As the oldest veterans’ rights advocacy group in the nation, they work to support the well-being of veterans and their families through community events like these and other initiatives.
The Memorial Day Celebration it serves as a salute to those who have served in a branch of the U.S. military, the program includes a number of activities for the whole family. Musical guests, speakers and outdoor activities.
The Avenue of the Flags is a tribute that features flags formerly donning the enclosures of fallen soldiers. The flags are put on display outside, with friends and family encouraged to meditate on the memories of their lost loved ones.
People who are actively in the military and veterans alike are encouraged to bring their families and participate in the public ceremony, organizers said. The event is welcome to everyone.
Holiday celebrations for the community like these may choose to use banner printing to decorate a public gathering space.
The Memorial Day Celebration is happening on May 26 at 10 a.m. at the Rohnert Park Community Center at 5401 Snyder Lane.
