Residents in Rohnert Park and the surrounding areas are getting ready for the Rohnert Park Founder’s Day.
Celebrating 54 years as a town, the event will feature a parade, car show, live music, and even a little friendly competition.
The theme of this year’s celebration is Rock-a-versary, and the festivities are geared towards commemorating the 50th anniversary of Rancho Cotate High School, as well as the 30th of the Callinan Sports Center. As such, the parade asks that participants decorate their floats and displays based on the theme, with suggestions including decades of rock, tributes to classic rock bands, and rock through the ages.
The Show and Shine Car Show is open to all classic models with no entry fee whatsoever. Winners will be chosen from categories such as People’s Choice, Mayor’s Choice, and RP City Council’s Choice. Vendor spots are still available for the car show, and interested parties can download business Forms off the website to apply for a spot.
Additionally, there will be a contest for the manliest set of legs, which is open to everyone. Contestants will be judged on hairiness, sexiness, and muscularity, with the winner being crowned Mr. Lucky Legs. Also, Rosetown Soul and the Rotten Tomatoes will play for the event.
Rohnert Park Founder’s Day will be held on October 1 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Rohnert Park Community Center, located at 5401 Snyder Ln. Admission is free to the public. Anyone interested in more info should visit the website.
