It was recently announced that Sonoma State University will have a new president, Dr. Judy K. Sakaki, who will take the reins from Ruben Armiñana.
The presidency of the university will switch hands at the close of the current semester, which is when Armiñana has said he will be stepping down. Sonoma State University has served the North Bay area for 55 years, and Armiñana has held the University’s top position for nearly half of that time.
A series of custom Business Cards could trace the steps Dr. Sakaki took on her journey to arrive at her new position in Rohnert Park. The 62-year-old Sakaki most recently served as Vice President of Student Affairs for the University of California. Prior to that, she was requesting business card printing services to list her position as Vice Chancellor at UC Davis. Before that, she held the position of Vice President at Fresno State University.
Among the new president’s goals for Sonoma State will likely be bolstering its graduation rate. At 28%, her new employers’ rates are higher than the California State University average of 24%, but lower than the 34% average achieved throughout the U.S.
Sakaki attended Cal State East Bay, from which she earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, then went to UC Berkeley to obtain her doctorate in the field of education.
