Major stars to appear in Rohnert Park

One of rock's longest-lasting acts will be appearing in Rohnert Park soon.

REO Speedwagon formed in Champaign, Illinois, in 1967, and is still performing today. The lineup of band members has changed a number of times, although its founding member, Neal Doughty, is still with the group. During their early years, they played in clubs and bars throughout the Midwest, and in 1971, Epic Records released their self-titled debut album.

Their breakthrough came in 1980, when they released their ‘Hi Infidelity’ album, again on Epic, changing their sound by moving toward pop music and away from hard rock. Four singles from this album became hits, including “Keep on Loving You,” which occupied the number one spot on the Billboard Top 100 for a week in 1981. The “Hi Infidelity” album sold more than 10 million Copies.

A review of a recent REO Speedwagon concert noted that the current band has been playing together for 30 years, and:

“though fans probably shouldn’t expect new music . . . they do a great job in keeping all those melodic and romantic ballads fresh . . .”

They also refreshed the setlist, leaving the reviewer considering going back to see them again that same weekend.

Graton Resort and Casino is on Golf Course Drive West. REO Speedwagon will appear there on Saturday, February 1 at 8:00 pm, in the Ballroom. Poster printing can be used to develop creative advertising for this type of event.
