The only vote that happened was on choosing a delegate to attend the League of California Cities Annual Conference. They decided that Mayor Jackie Elward along with Vice Mayor Samantha Rodriguez will attend the conference scheduled for September 7-9. Elward was chosen as the voting delegate and Rodriguez is going as the alternative.
The council also held a discussion on how to proceed with the Local Road Safety Plan Draft. The LRSP is described as a:
“comprehensive plan that identifies, analyzes, and prioritizes roadway safety improvements to reduce fatalities and serious injuries on all public roads.”
In 2020, Rohnert Park was the recipient of a grant that was to be used to create this plan. The plan is nearing completion and this was a chance for the council to make changes before the final draft is adopted. Copies of important documents tend to have official Letterheads on the front.
Every council member was required to tell the contractors and city staff about specific areas that the people they represent would like to have looked at. The contractor will take their suggestions into consideration before presenting its final plan to the city. The plan is expected to be updated every five years or as needed.
