Hungry locals enjoy barbecued fare

Residents in Rohnert Park can bring their appetites to the Fifth Annual Wine Country Big Q Kansas City Barbecue Society taking place in about a month’s time.

Once there, individuals can sample barbecued fare from more than 50 ‘pit masters’, along with beans, dessert, and plenty of beverages.

There will be five different barbecue competitions: sauce, chicken wing and drumettes, best tri tip barbecue, bean, and bacon dessert. Celebrities will be on the judging panel. In addition, there will be over $8,000 in cash and prizes. Competition, vendor, volunteer, and judge applications are available on the event’s official website.

Tickets cost $45 for adults, which includes a wine glass along with four drink and eight food tickets. Admission is $20 for kids, aged 12 and under, and includes four food tickets and non-alcoholic drinks.

For an additional fee, tickets may be purchased online until noon on event day. Tickets may also be purchased at the door. A Stationery printing service may have helped create tickets for the event.

Along with food, guests can enjoy live entertainment from Soul to Soul, a tribute band to Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, which plays blues and rock music.

The event will take place from July 10 through July 11 from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm, and takes place at Sonoma Mountain Village, located on 1300 Valley House Drive. For more information, call (707) 837-1928.
