Hip-hop and rap in Rohnert Park

A hip-hop artist, along with a talented rapper, will be performing in Rohnert Park.

Tru Lyric is a Santa Rosa native who found writing lyrics was a solid strategy for coping with his anxiety and depression. His own career advanced when he used his talent to help others in the same situation. His passionate love for music comes from listening to great artists when he was a child. He lists the Notorious B.I.G., The Temptations, and Frank Sinatra as strong influences. However, as he wrote his own material, he also developed a different vision of hip-hop, and began working with other musicians to infuse blues, rock, gospel, jazz, and even salsa into his own unique sound.

Kayatta, who will also be performing, is from West Oakland and is an educator, producer, poet, and rapper who has, over the course of her career, become a gifted stage performer as well as an effective educator. Kayatta recently won the title of “Best Hip-Hop Artist in Sonoma,” and continues to develop new material that pushes the boundaries creatively and socially. She fuses bass, drums, and poetry to create a new experience that has been described as:

“Mc Lyte meets Ladybug meets Tupac.”

Try Lyric and Kayatta will appear at the Heirloom Café in the SOMO Village in Rohnert Park on August 13 at 7:30 pm. The doors open an hour earlier, and dinner is included in the ticket price. Poster printing can be used to create stylish advertising for events like this.
