In late July, a gathering of the Rohnert Park City Council took place at the city hall, with the full attendance of all council members.
Mayor Samantha Rodriguez delivered multiple presentations. Her first one involved paying tribute to the outgoing Information Technology manager, David Rowley, as he embarked on his retirement. The subsequent presentation involved recognizing the KBBF Bilingual Public Radio Station for its 50-year dedication to community service.
A series of introductions took place at this meeting. One of them was the introduction of Paul Cotte as the new Information Technologies (IT) Operations Manager. Another was the ceremony where Adam Strongman was sworn in as Public Safety Lieutenant, as well as Ben Kopshever and Zachary Morrow as sergeants. Chief Mattos conducted the swearing-in procedures. An overview was provided regarding the Roberts Lake Safe Sleeping Program, for which the council was scheduled to deliberate and endorse Resolution 2023-060. This resolution involved amendments to the budget for the 2023-24 financial year with an allocation of $384,000 intended to secure grant funds from Sonoma County's Measure O Program. The objective was to sustain the city's operation of Homelessness Resolution Programs.
Adjustments to agreements with Defense Block Security and Homefirst of Santa Clara County for the enhancement of the Roberts Lake Safe Sleeping Program were set to be approved.
