Council announces new mayor and vice-mayor

Susan Hollingsworth Adams was appointed as Rohnert Park's new mayor and Gerard Giudice was selected to serve as vice-mayor at the city council's final meeting of 2022.

Samantha Rodriguez, the previous mayor and acting Councilwoman for District 1, served a one-year tenure that concluded on December 12th. Adams was vice-mayor for the last year. Assemblyman Damon Connolly of California's District 12 was there for the change of power and awarded Rodriguez with an award of appreciation. Corporate Gifts could be used to commemorate special occasions. Connolly went on to say:

“Samantha, you have had a great year as mayor. Rohnert Park is on the move and it’s because of the energy in this room and vision behind projects like Downtown Rohnert Park, which is not going to build itself.”

A retrospective movie outlining the city's successes from 2023 was screened to the crowd in the council chambers before Adams and Giudice were inaugurated. The video celebrated the formation of the Health and Wellness Fair, the Police Community Roundtable, the Juneteenth Breakfast, and the introduction of four different families into affordable housing units in Willowglen. This was the location of the groundbreaking of the first SOMO residential units.

After the video was finished, the new mayor, whose father held the position of mayor of Rohnert Park for three terms, outlined her plans for the coming year.
