Redding rock and jazz guitar enthusiasts will get to hear what Guitar Player Magazine has referred to as “one of the most respected guitarists on the planet” this evening.
Eric Johnson will be in concert as part of his ‘Eclectic’ tour. He will be sharing the stage with Blood, Sweat and Tears’ guitarist Mike Stern.
Eric Johnson is best known for his rendition of ‘Cliffs of Dover’. A native of Austin Texas, this songwriter, vocalist, pianist, and guitarist has won several Grammy awards. He continues to release new singles such as ‘Tidal’, ‘Wonder’, ‘To Whom It May Concern’, and ‘Imagination of You—a tribute to George Harrison’. His latest release, which dropped in October of last year and is called ‘Eclectic’, is a collaborative effort with fellow headliner Stern.
Stern, a Boston native, will be known to many as the lead guitar player for the band Blood, Sweat and Tears back. Born in 1953, he has continued performing in front of audiences for over four decades. He was won several awards for his playing, including Best Jazz Guitarist by Guitar Player magazine. Fans will want to get pictures of these two players working together for future poster printing.
The concert will be held this evening, January 29, running from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm at the Cascade Theatre, 1731 Market Street in Redding.
