Redding continues rodeo tradition

The 78th Buckin' by the River Redding Rodeo will be coming to Redding in mid-May.

For four days top cowboys and girls will compete in traditional rodeo events such as team roping, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, women's barrel racing and broc riding.

Specialty acts will include trick riders, rodeo clowns, and patriotic presentation of colors. Daring kids will display their mutton bustin' skills and all kids can enjoy the corral play area. Fair food will be available for purchase and sponsors will have booths to advertise their goods and services and pass out Promotional Products such as promotional Pens, yardsticks, pencils and beverage can cozies. A fireworks extravaganza will end the festivities on Saturday night.

Native American Night, taking place on Wednesday May 13th, will highlight the heritage and rich culture of the Native American communities. There will be an opening ceremony, special presentations and rodeo action. Thursday will be Family Night, Friday will be Buckin' Cancer night, and Saturday will be America 250 Years.

Gates will open at 5:00 pm and the main performance will begin at 7:00 pm each evening.

Edward Jones will present the first Redding Rodeo Lunch Party in the arena on Saturday May 9th. This will be a family-friendly evening of entertainment provided by Jake Jacobson, line dancing, activities including mutton bustin', and tri-tip meals.

Online tickets are $20 and tickets at the gate will be $25. The Redding Rodeo will take place May 13th through the 16th at the Redding Rodeo Grounds, 715 Auditorium Drive.
