Redding’s Cascade Theatre is hosting a stand-up performance by comedian Margaret Cho this October.
Born in San Francisco in 1968, Cho is the child of Korean immigrants with a unique legacy. Her grandfather ran a Seoul orphanage in the Korean War while her mother refused an arranged marriage and instead married Cho’s father, a Korean joke-book writer.
Following a successful stand-up career that has included two Netflix specials, appearances in legendary comedy shows like Dr. Katz Professional Therapist, Family Guy and 30 Rock, Cho has carved a name for herself on both movie screens and prestige TV.
Roles in Fire Island on HULU, HBO’s The Flight Attendant and in the Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians are just some of the highlights of a career in Hollywood that Cho has helmed since the early 1990s.
Cho’s forthcoming movie, All That We Love, recently had its premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, earning positive reviews.
While Cho, who was named in the top 10 all-time best female comedian list by Vogue, has expanded her career to include starring in films and doing advocacy work, she continues to take the stage to bring new stand-up material to audiences.
