Time for Redding to get its spook on

October means that Spooktoberfest will soon be upon us.

This will be a family-oriented afternoon for all Redding ghosts and goblins and their parents. Costumes are encouraged too.

In fact, everyone who wears a costume can enter a drawing to win a special prize. Parents will surely want to bring cameras to get pictures of their little guys in all their Halloween attire for later poster printing.

Park animals will help celebrate the season, as they will be featured in a ‘Myths and Legends’ animal show. Kids will be able to enjoy a root-beer garden while their parents can enjoy an adult beverage garden. Halloween-themed activities including trick-or-treats will entertain guests throughout the evening. To top off the evening, the park’s outdoor screen will be showing Bugs Bunny’s Howl-oween Special.

Individual tickets will run $6 each when purchased online and $8 at the door. Families composed of two adults and up to four children, can buy family passes online for $25 or $30 at the door. Tickets can also be purchased now at the site.

The event is scheduled for Friday, October 23, from 5:30 pm until 9:00 pm at Turtle Bay’s McConnell Arboretum & Botanical Gardens in Turtle Bay Exploration Park, 844 Sundial Bridge Drive. The rain date is slated for October 30. All proceeds will go to the educational programs and exhibitions at Turtle Bay Exploration Park.
